NINE-TO-FIVE
Most modern shooting games require the reaction times of a teenage mongoose on crack. Nine to Five was designed to appeal to the millions of gamers looking to exercise their brains as well as their trigger fingers. I was part of the team that came up with the creative ground rules for the project. We had so much fun that I got to stay on to do the entire narrative design.
A job for life. All three days of it.
Each round, or shift, pitched three teams of three against each other. The challenges were designed to reward teamwork and makeshift alliances. But mainly you spent a lot of time retiring your co-workers. After your shift, your performance review would determine how well you’d get paid. Like any other career, you’d gradually work your way up in a corporation and get better working conditions like better weaponry and more effectively healthcare.
